Anne Mitchell

Anne framedThe Anne Mitchell Show is coming back to town!

Anne will be returning to Kalispell for 3 classes on:

Saturday, July 28,
Sunday, July 29, and
Monday July 30.

Anne's personal journey in metals has taken her from an in-depth exploration of the intricacies of ancient chain maille patterns, to a study of traditional metal-smith techniques and finally, happening upon the medium that she loves, fine-silver metal working. Anne has been sharing her love of metals with students here at the Bead&Button Show since it first came to Milwaukee.
Anne was the first instructor to start teaching ancient maille patterns on the national level as well as the first instructor to teach fine-silver fusing at the Bead&Button Show. Her work has been featured in numerous Kalmbach publications through the years, and her metalwork was included in the 10-year Bead&Button Anniversary issue in 2008. In 2009, Anne was awarded the Excellence in Bead Artistry Award and in 2010 was honored to be included in the 10 Best Teacher list that was voted on by Bead&Button magazine readers and Bead&Button Show students.

Barbed Wire Necklace
Saturday, July 28, 9-5 PM
Class Fee $95, Kit Fee: $125.00

Many of my classes are my take on historical metalwork. This necklace is a combination of an ancient Roman link that I chose to accent with a southwestern flair. (Flair, meaning in a piece of really excellent barbed wire I saw at a barbed wire exhibit. ) I love the way that this link falls and spreads as it falls in place. This base can be either a bracelet, necklace or create match set. I love taking history and giving it a personal touch and I had a blast making this link work for my taste.

Barbed-Wire-Necklace
Stone-Cuff

Ribbed Stone Cuff
Sunday, July 29, 9-5 PM
Class Fee $95, Kit Fee: $145.00

Three of this years new classes are take on historical metalwork. This cuff is my personal take on an ancient Native American Indian Cuff I saw in a museum. I fell in love with the look and simplicity of the round wire soldered together with the accent end tabs. The weight of the metal and the stability given from the numerous soldered wires gives a solid base for my personal addition of a bezel set stone. The stone that will be used in class will be AA to AAA non-heat treated semi-precious gem stone cabochon. Final choice will based on availability at the time of ordering. The sooner the class fills up the longer time I have to get our stone of choice cut to order.

Fusing the Classic Fine Silver Loop-n-Loop Chain
Monday, July 30,5-9 PM
Class Fee $65, Kit Fee $60

The Loop-n-Loop chain was my first dive into deconstructing classic chain patterns and updating the pattern using fine silver. In just a four hours we can unlock the secrets and techniques for fusing delicate and finer gauges of fine silver and you will walk away with that technique under your belt and a beautiful creation. Using pre-cut rings you will dive right into fusing the fine silver rings and learn the step by step techniques needed to create this supple and ancient link.
